My Shows Came From a Cable. Now They Come From Space.

So, last Thursday the cable blew up. Again. Yeah, seems that the lines got knocked down by trees from the wind storm. Just like last time. Then, it wasn’t back up until Monday. So, I did not see the start of the Red Sox season. That’s just like last time, too, except last time the lines came down because of the ice storm. Just before the Superbowl. My friend Mike said that’s why he switched to Direct TV – it never goes down. But you also need a good view of the southern sky to mount the receiver. I thought the trees outside my yard were too tall for me to get the signal, but I’m so sick of not getting any signal that I went to http://www.directstartv.com and was able to get an installer to come out and check it out.

I Wish I’d Known Direct TV was This Good

Okay, so I’m dumb; I have enough exposure to the southern sky to get the receiver. It went on top of the roof, and you can’t even see it from the street. Everything’s now hooked up, and Direct TV is at least ten times better than cable. For one, I get twice the high-def channels I used to get. This I wasn’t expecting, because I thought the picture might be kind of like the picture that we got from antennas (ok, I’m dating myself) back before cable. Nope – crystal clear sight and sound on all my sports channels. I’m also paying half of what I paid the cable company. And if I want to change or add channels, I just go to http://www.directstartv.com, and choose what I want. The only problem now is that when there’s a game, all my friends with cable want to come over here. Okay – fine, but it’s BYOB.
