Eastwood Office Girl… Once Again…

I’ve been back to Eastwood only twice right after our office moved to the Rockwell Business Center in Ortigas. I wish I’m still working here…

Eastwood MCDO

McDonalds used to be few steps away...

Eastwood CyberMall

Best workplace at night... (and day)

I miss Eastwood. I’ll be on my way to Makati later for our Windows 7 Client training and I’m not comfortable with the place. Or should I say, not familiar? The busy streets make me crazy and dizzy. I don’t even know where’s the legal pedestrian lane  is, and the loading and unloading zone. Haha. This make me miss Eastwood even more… Incomparable to Ortigas and Makati workplace…

Be Your Own Boss!

Career growth is one of the motivating factors to stay in one’s current job. When the horizon gets cloudy and everything seems messed up, it’s normal for someone to feel lethargic. I, myself is not an exemption. But the reason why I’ll be resigning is because I want to have a break. I want to break free from irate customers, insensitive QA and boring work load. To make it simple, I want to quit working for others. I want to have my own business. I have enough capital to franchise a food cart or start an RTW. But since my target market is the people from my hometown, I think putting up a bakery would be more feasible.

You can do it!

I was not able to speak with my father about my business proposal. Good thing I have plan B. So while I’m not starting my own business yet, I decided to study networking and programming right after resigning. I can also work at home at the same time. Yes, home-based business to be exact. Sales jobs do not appeal that much to me so I am not into affiliate marketing but I might be a full-time blogger soon! Oh, I’m so excited to be my own boss!

Job Alerts From Jobstreet and oDesk

job alerts

You've got mail!

I usually delete the job alerts from Jobstreet and oDesk. Not anymore. Now that I am about to leave my job, I am trying to look for jobs that interest me. As a matter of fact, I have updated my Jobstreet profile. But it does not mean that I’ll be leaving my TSR position for something else. I’ll have a long vacation first. Yay!

While I was checking for my job matches, I realized that some of them are not accurate. I’ve seen one healthcare job that’s supposed to be for nurses only. The other one is manager-trainee for food chain that will be opened soon. I can’t figure out where the gap lies so I just set up a secondary alert. Now I am receiving two job alerts each day. The first one is for IT-related positions and the second one is for publishing/editing roles.

Oh, if we are to add oDesk on the list that will make three job alerts each day. The thing is, oDesk is a web-based company and you can simply work from home. Sounds more convenient, right? You can try this online portal to earn extra income!

A Real Corporate Life

Every day, a small ant arrives at work very early and starts work immediately. She produces a lot and she was happy.

I love my job!

The Chief, a lion, was surprised to see that that ant was working without supervision. He thought if the ant can produce so much without supervision, wouldn’t she produce even more if she had a supervisor!

So he recruited a cockroach who had extensive experience as supervisor and who was famous for writing excellent reports. The cockroach’s first decision was to set up a clocking in attendance system. He also needed a secretary to help him write and type his reports and he recruited a spider, who managed the archives and monitored all phone calls.

The lion was delighted with the cockroach’s reports and asked whom to produce graphs to describe production rates and to analyze trends, so that he could use them for presentations at Board meetings.
So the cockroach had to buy a new computer and a laser printer and recruited a fly to manage the IT department.

The ant, who had once been so productive and relaxed, hated this new plethora of paperwork and meetings which used up most of her time!
The lion came to the conclusion that it was high time to nominate a person in charge of the department where the ant worked. The position was given to the cicada, whose first decision was to buy a carpet and an ergonomic chair for his office. The new person in charge, the cicada, also needed a computer and a personal assistant, who he brought from his previous department, to help him prepare a Work and Budget Control Strategic Optimization Plan…

The Department where the ant works is now a sad place, where nobody laughs anymore and everybody has become upset… It was at that time that the cicada convinced the boss, the lion, of the absolute necessity to start a climatic study of the environment. Having reviewed the charges for running the ant’s department, the lion found out that the production was much less than before. So he recruited the owl, a prestigious and renowned consultant to carry out an audit and suggest solutions.

The owl spent three months in the department and came up with an enormous report, in several volumes that concluded: “The department is overstaffed…”

Guess who the lion fires first?

You’re fired!

The ant, of course, because she “showed lack of motivation and had a negative attitude”.

Note:
The characters in this fable are fictitious; any resemblance to real people or facts withing the CORPORATION is pure coincidence…

Sulitizen: The Epitome of Frugality

I’m a Sulitizen myself but I’m not that active in the forum. I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers who are also part of this community and I feel happy about those who actively participate in the different events and contests. For now, Michelle got my support.
