Have you seen the Google Doodle for today? Yeah, pretty wavy and colorful! This is to commemorate Heinrich Rudolf Hertz‘ 155th birthday.
Heinrich Rudolf Hertz (February 22, 1857 ā January 1, 1894) was a German physicist who clarified and expanded the electromagnetic theory of light that had been put forth by Maxwell. He was the first to satisfactorily demonstrate the existence of electromagnetic waves by building an apparatus to produce and detect radio waves.

Hertz is one of the most famous scientists I know in my high school life. Lol. I remember those Science and elective classes that involved invention and other studies. I love that subject!
Hertz developed the Hertz antenna receiver in 1886. He also developed the transmitting type of dipole antenna. Both of these are the simplest and practical antennas during that time. He continued his electromagnetic research in 1887 and experimented with radio waves. His discoveries gave rise to the wireless age that we are all enjoying today. Overall, Hertz’ experiments explain reflection, refraction, polarization, interference, and velocity of electric waves.
From then on Hz or hertz became the SI unit of frequency (cycles per second).

I remember Hertz but not the whole name, haha! Kudos to Hertz
Me, too. Not his full name. Lol. I just made a research on Wiki.
Yeah I have noticed the new image in google search today. You got a sharp memory sis ah, can’t remember anymore if Hertz is included in our lesson si Graham Bell at Thomas Alba Edison lang ang naalala ko., hehe
Haha. Those two are pretty popular, too. I love science!
I love how google is creative with their search engine…significantly creative. And thanks to Hertz we are enjoying the fruit of his excellence today!
Creative, indeed! I’m really thankful to all the geniuses out there.
Nice doodle – Hertz deserves the honor. Might have made the longest wavelength red and and the shortest violet, but I’m being picky.
He certainly deserved it!
