This Japanese series reminds me of my high school life, the year before graduation to be exact. We also took career guidance seminars and several exams to know which course or field interests us. I can’t even remember if what I’ve chosen before is relevant to my current job and vice versa.
LOL.
Samurai High School highlights Mochizuki Kotaro’s life as junior high school student – carefree yet determined. Everything changed when his ancestor of the same name possessed his body. He suddenly became the powerful and grownup Kotaro!
I like the way Kotaro deals with school challenges because he has his own ideals. He has accomplished a lot of things with the help of Samurai Kotaro but it is really his own self that decides all the time. I love him more when he doesn’t want to be an adult if it means giving up what he really like! Aja! Being an adult means growing up with the right ideals and not simply following what other adults tell you. I have few more favorite lines but I’m not able to memorize it. Blame it to the Samurai language. Hehe.
Here’s what I was able to come up with after replaying the last episode. Kotaro was motivated rather challenged (or infuriated?) by what the Samurai told him, “Although you are alive, you are not living.” So he’s fighting with all his might as he bravely faces everyone and says:
As long as one doesn’t fight, one can not win. One can not give up until the end. One should admit one’s mistakes if one believes there was one. It’s wrong to blame others for your own failures. Do everything you can to live fully… since you’re on this earth anyway. That is why… I will fight.
And as what their principal said on her speech: Life is too short to be little!
Other social aspects that were touched all through out includes family, friendship and politics. We had fun watching this comedy/action series!
